Please note that children are welcome to either join you on the visits, or to remain in the meeting room under the watchful eye of responsible adults, such as myself!
Midwifery Care Lobby Day February 28 11am-4pm State Capitol in Salem
What is Lobby Day? It is a great opportunity to visit with your Oregon legislators and let them know about Homebirth, Birth Centers, Midwifery Care, and what you think of the bill for mandatory licensure of midwives. We have made all the appointments and will have talking points available if you are not sure where to start.
We will meet from 11:00 to12:00 in Room 257 to share a potluck lunch and get oriented. Then we will be doing 15 minute visits with legislators in small groups. Children and babies are welcome on the legislative visits, but we have also organized childcare, and hope that some parents will take a turn helping watch the kids before or after they’ve done their visits.
Please come to Salem if,
- You had a good experience with midwifery care and want legislators to know about it
- You feel strongly about how, or if, midwives should be regulated
- You feel shy about speaking with legislators but want to learn more about the legislative process by being present during these meetings
